Tell Gov. Healey: Veto PLA Bill
Sign the Petition to Protect Fair & Open Competition
We the undersigned urge Governor Maura Healey to veto the language enabling project labor agreements on public construction as contained in the Economic Development Bond Bill.
We are men and women of Massachusetts whose livelihoods depend on the state’s construction industry. We will be directly harmed if public entities are permitted, by right, to impose project labor agreements on public construction.
As individuals, we have the right to choose not to belong to organized labor. This personal choice should not subject us to job discrimination at the hands of our government and with the use of our tax dollars. Because PLAs mandate the use of union labor, merit shop employees are be unfairly banned.
We believe public construction should follow laws that encourage fair and open competition by all qualified contractors, whether union shops or merit shops with their trained, skilled employees.
